A wide view of a shelter under the railway arches, somewhere in South East London, showing shelterers sleeping on wooden benches. One woman in the background can just be seen sitting on a mattress. There are very signs reminding shelterers that smoking is strictly prohibited in the shelter. This photograph was taken in November 1940.
