The eastern headland of chalk cliffs overlooking the ahrbour entrance at Dieppe. This high ground was known to be tan enemy strongpoint but the Allies woefully underestimated the effectiveness of the weapons concealed in the caves and bunkers. Most of the emplacements were impervious to naval fire and the light weapons carried by the assaulting Canadians.
