Saint-Lô in ruins, August 1944. At the foot of the upper town from the valley of Dollée, this photo shows the high city ramparts and Notre Dame, with its tower and then truncated to the right the ruins of the prefecture. It is the crossroads of Route Carentan, north side of the old city. On the left, of Walnut Street, right, Rue de la Dollée (now the Postern Street). You can also see several IM's, Jeeps and a Dodge.
