Saint-Lô in ruins in August 1944 this photo being taken from the remaining tower of Notre Dame. On the left, the ruins of the Museum and right film Majestic. The circular building in the foreground is the top of the old Gate Milk (now rebuilt), which protected the southern entrance to the city in the Middle Ages. On the left the Post, the Champ de Mars (white space) with the substance of Holy Cross Church left and behind the Old Stud.
