BHC 200521 St Lo in Ruins during World War 2

St Lo, Normandy, at the center of the old town is the church of Notre-Dame. This photograph was taken by one American war correspondent from an easterly direction. To the right of the photo, vehicles can be seen travelling down the street Havin to/from the Place de Strasbourg (white space, which no longer exists). In the background, the large building is the School Verrier. In the foreground is the Town Hall. In the center, Rue Carnot - which no longer exists - the Ruins of the prefecture on the left, the Tribunal (with the triangular pediment) with the Prison just behind the right. Today thisis the Place Charles de Gaulle. The vehicles walk down the street Neufbourg towards the Place St. Croix. On the left the Post, the Champ de Mars (white space) with the substance of Holy Cross Church  and left and behind the Old Stud.
