This 66ft high observation tower was erected on high ground north of Cheux by VIII Corps Royal Engineers for 10th Survey Regiment Royal Artillery. Its observers were attempting to spot the flash of enemy guns near Verson and Hill 112 so that they could be targeted with counter-battery fire
