A Churchill tank from 147th Hampshire Regiment RAC makes a path through the Reichswald on 10 February. The forest was thought to be impenetrable to armour but tank crews found a way through the forest by deducing that if the trees were small enough and close together they could be pushed over and if they were too large for this then they were wide enough apart to pass between. the use of armour in the middle of such a densley wooded area came as a shock to the Germans
