Weymouth Harbour, Portland, American soldiers boarding ships at the beginning of June 1944 ready for Operation Overlord. The medics of the 5th ESB (white arc on the helmet, visible on the left) are boarding the hold of a LCT for the Channel crossing, destination Omaha Beach. Life belts were tied on stretchers to ensure their recovery on the beach.  (This is an almost identical image to BHC 200515)
